Our Founders Don and Brett Sneed first decided to concentrate on a solution for tracking winter grime from the garage into the house, creating the first G‑Floor® Parking Pad in 1998. Don’s daughter-in-law, Brett’s wife, had just installed white carpeting throughout the house which served as their initial inspiration.
Brett developed the unique 10’ wide manufacturing process for G‑Floor and worked with his father, Don, to manufacture a thick, solid polyvinyl that would roll out for easy installation. They positioned their unique size and engineering capabilities against traditional epoxy floors which took effort and time to install and were prone to cracking, staining and peeling. The father and son team called their new company Better Life Technology (BLT) and their G‑Floor Parking Pad caught on quickly becoming the leader in garage floor protection.
The Sneeds realized there was something special about their uniquely-engineered 100% solid polyvinyl flooring that separated BLT’s garage floor protector from others on the market. Because they didn’t use any fillers, layers or laminates when creating their polyvinyl, it had a longer life span. Without a wear layer to wear down and wear out, and without the fillers that are known to compact inside the flooring and actually decreased longevity, G‑Floor didn’t deteriorate or breakdown and remained entirely waterproof. BLT’s solid polyvinyl didn’t crack, split, peel, curl, or dent under heavy machinery and it was resistant to oils, chemicals and other damaging liquids.
BLT opened its company headquarters in Lenexa, Kansas and developed a manufacturing facility in nearby Emporia, Kansas to keep up with demand. G‑Floor slowly moved from not only protecting garage floors but into the inside of the home to cover basements, utility rooms, and recreational areas, and then into a wide range of commercial industries and mobile applications. Since 2004, BLT has added new colors, textures and dimensions to its G‑Floor product line. G‑Floor is found in more than 1,200 retail stores nationwide, as well as via a variety of online distributors.
As BLT’s current CEO and visionary, Brett Sneed is the inventor of our newest product innovations – AquaTread® marine flooring, G‑Floor Graphic® Print Media customized flooring, and the GrowFloor® greenhouse flooring line unveiled in 2018. With BLT’s recent introductions of G‑Floor Graphic and GrowWall™, G‑Floor has moved up and off the floor and onto covering walls, too. We can’t wait to see what’s next.
From the entire G‑Floor and Better Life Technology family, we say thank you for 20 amazing years. We hope we’ve gained your trust and business for another two decades and beyond!
