2nd Shift G-Floor Supervisor

Position Description:

This position is responsible for the overall supervision of the daily operations of all G-Floor activity. This position has a primary responsibility to effectively and efficiently coordinate and direct all activity on the production floor. This position will coordinate the movement of material, scheduling of staff, development of staff, storage of finished goods, quality control, packaging, raw material grinding, and pallet production. This position will work closely with other members of the management team to ensure efficient operations.

Specific Responsibilities/Areas of Accountability


    • Ensuring proper material handling techniques are followed for all raw materials, finished goods, packaging, and plant supplies
    • Ensuring proper planning and control of all areas of responsibility in production department, including: labor, overtime, equipment, and more
    • Maintaining clear written records
    • Creating a safe and secure work environment
    • Maintaining supplies inventory at adequate levels to ensure smooth and continuous workflow
    • Achieving goals and objectives established by plant management
    • Contributing to ongoing improvements to throughput, inventory and operational expense
    • Abiding by all company polices including but not limited to: health and safety, quality and environmental systems, human resources policies, and employee handbook policies
    • Using standard operating procedures (SOP) for training and developing new ones as required


    • Maintaining neat and orderly work areas to expedite workflow and ensuring maximum employee efficiency
    • Taking appropriate action to eliminate safety hazards
    • Maintaining work areas to minimize hazards: keeping aisles clear, returning excess supplies inventory to assigned storage areas
    • Minimizing the use of forklifts by use of pallet jacks or other methods for material movement
    • Enforcing compliance with all safety regulations and company policies
    • Performing quality audits of production
    • Enforcing quality standards for the product, packaging, and processes
    • Implement corrective actions resulting from non-conforming reports


    • Maximize efficiencies and minimize turnover through staff development 
    • Providing new employees with a thorough one-on-one training
    • Explaining all work rules to employees and obtaining written confirmation of their understanding
    • Delegating work assignments to employees to effective complete assigned duties
    • Establishing a measurement system to evaluate actual performance against expected performance and provide appropriate feedback to employee
    • Maintaining fair and consistent disciplinary practices in accordance with company policies


    • Communicating with subordinates, peers and superior personnel to ensure efficient transfer of needed information among all personnel and all shifts
    • Overseeing daily shift meetings to communicate expectations for the day and discuss any anticipated problems
    • Ensuring the effective transfer of information during shift overlap
    • Communicating any personnel, equipment, or safety needs with plant management

Job Requirements

    • Detailed knowledge of our products including features like color, pattern, size, and thickness
    • Basic to mid-level computer skills required
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Familiarity with state and federal OSHA regulations
    • Effective time management and organizational skills
    • Ability to lead a team
    • Strong technical and problem-solving skills

Education and Experience

    • High School Diploma or GED required, post-secondary courses in related disciplines preferred
