Floors of G-Floor Garage By Benjamin Cyr (Rough English Translation)
If there is a place where a man feels good about him is good in his garage. You can leave the rest of the house of Madame tastes, but please let us take care of organizing the location find our tools, bikes, cars and others. The best way to finish the renovation of a garage is to install a high quality floor that will withstand four seasons of Quebec. At this level, products from G-Floor BLT (Better Life Technologies) provide both a high quality finish, a year-round use and installation easier. That's what I found in my own garage.
A variety of sizes and patterns
Let's say my double garage showed signs of old age with a concrete floor that was beginning to lose its finish and deteriorate. Over the years, water and calcium have been due to its resistance. So far only touched on the eye, an update was required to greatly improve its appearance and longevity. I have decided to add a layer of paint for concrete, but it often again after two winters because the paint begins to retire quietly. So I decided to use BLT to get two rolls of their famous product G-Floor. Several different colors are available as well as different reasons, and all variants in sizes to suit your needs. Personally, I opted for two rolls of 9 'x 20'. For curieuz, know that it is possible to achieve sizes up to 60 'long and up to 10' wide.
An installation so easy
Unlike some other products, no need to stick to the ground. The longest work is to measure the required dimensions and cut if necessary. Despite the thickness of the material, it is possible to prune it still easily with a good pair of scissors industry. Having done this, it installs and places once and for all. Look at the pictures to see the difference before and after. The day and night! And to my surprise, after a few days up the product does not move at all. Surprisingly for a floor that is not stuck! According to the manufacturer, it resists water, oil and even the famous calcium in winter. This then prevents the deterioration of concrete forming the floor of the garage.

Garage Flooring
So what's the most important room in the house?
For the car guy, it's the garage. If dad has been musing about putting down a fancy epoxy floor or complaining about having to paint the floor again, check out the G-Floor. It costs about two bucks a square foot (cheaper than epoxy), is easy-to-install, and simple to live with.
The G-Floor® polyvinyl roll-out flooring comes in a variety of colors and textures with roll widths ranging from 7.5 to 10 feet. Roll lengths can be up to 24-feet for the commercial grade thickness (0.075-inch base thickness) and up to 60-feet for the industrial grade (0.85-inch base thickness).
To install, use a dolly to position the rolled-up vinyl, loose the roll with a utility knife, and trim to fit (measure twice, cut once). Aside from sweeping off the old floor first, there's no other floor prep. Check out www.G-Floor.com for details and ordering info.

List: What We Got For Christmas … And Really Liked by
Rex Roy
If you know the right places to look, here's never a shortage of cool, automotive-themed gifts to give and receive. While the major gifting holidays are past, consider the following as a recommendations list for the rest of 2010.
Be creative with how you spread the word about what you'd like to receive. For example, send this URL to your honey with a hint that something off this list would be better for Valentines Day than red boxer shorts. Or you could print this out for your kids with a verbal reminder that Father's Day is only six months away. You get the idea.
G-Floor ® Garage Flooring
Oil stains. Tire marks. Spilled paint. These give old garage floors a well-used patina. If you live in northern climates where salt is used to clear the roads, the aforementioned collage may be enhanced with small craters of crumbling cement. If your garage floor is showing a bit too much patina these days, check out the new G-Floor. It's cost-effective, easy-to-install, good looking garage flooring.
The G-Floor® polyvinyl roll-out flooring comes in a variety of colors and textures with roll widths ranging from 7.5– to 10–feet. Roll lengths up to 24-feet for the commercial grade thickness (0.075-inch base thickness) and up to 60 feet for the industrial grade (0.85-inch base thickness). Cost, exclusive of labor (just a few hours for a typical residential garage) is $2 per square-foot for the commercial grade product. Plus, there's almost no floor prep. Just sweep out your old garage before you roll out the G-Floor.
When you are putting down the floor, two suggestions:
• Have a hand-truck or dolly to help move the rolls when they arrive. The rolls weigh in at up to 600 pounds for a typical 10 x 20 foot section.
• When you go to cut around doors, steps, pillars and such, measure twice (or three times).
Living with the new G-Floor is easy. The floor doesn’t have that “dusty” feel that old concrete always has. Plus the vinyl has some give to it, making it more comfortable to walk across. Additionally, the floor seems to seal out floor moisture, making the garage feel dryer.
In terms of clean-up, the floor sweeps up easily. Nothing seems to stick to the vinyl. Residual water puddles can be left to evaporate or swept out with a push broom. Oil also stays on the surface of the floor, making it easier to clean up compared to oil on concrete. Some liquids will stain some colors of the G-Floor, but the stains tend to disappear over time.
The G-Floor is an excellent choice when it comes to sprucing up a garage at a reasonable cost and with little effort.

Road Test & Beyond: Dream Garage Transform a Dingy Garage into Dual-Purpose Space
Paddock Talk 2009
A 1949 Ford Anglia
Recently my wife and I faced the daunting task of finding a more appropriate space to call home for our portrait photography business. Needing to keep overhead to a minimum we decided to simply expand at our current location, leaving us with the daunting task of transforming a big old, ugly cluttered garage into an inviting and useable space for our clients. Since we know there are a lot of photographers out there who have converted their garages into studios we figured this would be a pretty easy task — especially since we were already dealing with a fully insulated, heated environment. … we enlisted the talent of a carpenter-friend … to divide the space in two, so that we could keep fingers and prying eyeballs off the very expensive classic car — a 1949 Ford Anglia — that we have the privilege to share our rented accommodations with.
While good progress was made with the purge and clean up, the floor remained the biggest and most irritating portion of the entire project. Knowing that we could put it off no longer, we completely stripped the garage of its old flooring — first a layer of linoleum, then a layer of tiles — to the best recollection of the owner it had been down there since the late ‘60’s or early ‘70’s. … With many worries and visions of dollar signs dancing in our heads we began further exploration of the replacement options which included new roll stock, concrete repair kits, epoxy finishes and more!
As we got deeper into the project, we were completely overwhelmed by the endless options and variations of products available. … None of the options seemed to guarantee success and we were deeply concerned that we could spend hundreds of dollars trying to correct the problems before ever the new finish was applied.
The Options…
The cheapest option would have been to just cover it with the usual boring grey concrete paint. No chance! The floor had to look as good, if not better than the rest of the garage – besides it was going to be a portrait studio. The floor would be used in the pictures, so it had to be much better looking than blah paint.
Carpet would be a stupid choice as well as impractical, so that was immediately rejected. Ditto to laminate flooring. Vinyl flooring would make it look like a huge kitchen. Not only that, but depending on the condition of the concrete – it could get messy and expensive.
The reluctant decision was looking like an epoxy-type product. … Even if you follow the steps indicated on the boxes — there’s no guarantee it’ll work first time out the door. Not only that, but it can take up to a week or more to get the job done from start to finish. We didn’t have the time or money to make a mistake and then re-do the project.
When re-finishing a garage floor, one of the biggest problems you face is: Where are you supposed to keep all your junk while you run through all of the steps from prep, prime, paint and protect, and of course drying time? Consider too the issue of timing: What if it’s too hot, too cold or too humid? …
But then I discovered G-Floor by BLT (Better Life Technologies)!! [www.g-floor.com / www.bltllc.com]
Could it be that this was exactly what we were looking for all along? For starters — it’s specifically for garage floors and other industrial areas. It’s easy to install and works as a vapor barrier as well as an insulating factor. It offers cushioned seamless coverage, is easy to cut for that custom finish, and - surprise — it can easily be removed should we decide to take it with us. You can even take it outside to clean it! This stuff is tough — it stands up to corrosives like antifreeze, oil, salt and even battery acid!
The Solution…
It was just what we needed. With a variety of styles and colors to choose from, we decided on the Levant pattern — a leather-look textured pattern. …
Just over a week after we ordered it — it arrived at our door … enough to cover the 32 foot-wide by 25 ½ feet-deep garage (minus the mini studio) with a bit left over. …
…The flooring went down quickly and easily. My wife and I are equally perfectionists — it had to be just right. … We chose to lay the flooring using the special fabric tape that is available — we were just being extra cautious.
Fortunately for us, it didn’t take three days for the floor to look absolutely PERFECT! … we returned the next day to find the entire floor had “relaxed” and it looked even better than the previous evening. …
We had hoped the G-Floor was going to be easy to install and look good enough for the studio as well as the garage. To say we are ecstatic with the product and the results would be an understatement. The floor looks fabulous and makes the garage and the photo studio look like a million bucks! …
… The car, tool boxes, studio equipment and any other items that came out for the day were returned to their resting places before the sun had even set. Try doing that with an epoxy floor or painted finish! …
When making your decision on how to finish your garage floor, and as you’re weighing the options and prices, ask yourself one key question: How much is my time worth?
If it takes 3 or 4 days — even up to a week to complete the project, is it worth saving a few bucks on the product? … Even vinyl flooring has to be left for 24-48 hours before putting something heavy on it — and I won’t even get into the gluing aspect.
Another good point to mention is that even if we’d gone with painted flooring options — and if they worked — we’d be forever paranoid about chipping or scratching the finish! Especially after paying good money and spending endless hours on it!
Since I’m sure there are probably a few of you out there that are in just such a situation, if you’re looking to protect that beautiful painted or epoxy finish, G-Floor is STILL for you! If you don’t want to ruin your floor and would feel much better with an extra measure of protection, check out G-Floor’s clear flooring product that’s meant just for you!
I don’t know how better to conclude than to say, G-Floor is quite simply the best flooring option we could have chosen! To say we are 100% satisfied with the result would be an understatement. The look is better than we imagined and the fact that the product photographs so black is just what we were after for our studio. … For complete details, pricing and options on G-Floor and BLT please visit their website at www.g-floor.com / www.bltllc.com …
Tools Needed For the Job:
• Broom — to sweep the floor as prep work and to push the bubbles out once the floor is down.
• Heavy Duty Box Cutter Knife — for cutting the flooring. Don’t cheapen out on the blades — use Olfa blades. I ran out of my Olfa blades and had to use cheaper off-brand blades — what a nightmare. The product is easy to use and cut when you use the right product for the job.
• Straight Edge — for nice clean straight cuts.
• Knee Pads — you definitely need those!
What do you see when you open your garage door? Do you see rusting paint cans teetering on flimsy shelves threatening to fall on top of your vehicles? Do you see stacks of boxes that you planned to "deal with" when you moved 5 years ago? Do you see an ever-changing historical record of oil stains on the garage floor?
If these scenarios sound even remotely familiar, chances are that you say to yourself at least once a quarter, "I've got to do something about that garage."
But what is it, exactly, that you intend to do? Neglected tasks become increasingly more intimidating and a ramshackle garage is no exception. Here's a garage game plan to get you started.
Formulate a final vision
Do you want to park your cars in the garage or use it as a workplace or for storage or as a multipurpose room? Once you develop a vision you can take steps towards making it a reality.
Divide and conquer
Grab a pad of post-it notes, roll up your sleeves, get in that garage and label everything as either "Keep," "Discard," or "TBD". If your goal is to clear space, you should probably eliminate the "TBD" category. Including the entire household in this process is recommended unless you want to answer "What did you do with my...?" questions for the next 10 years.
Discard and Reassess
Donate and/or throw out all of the "Discard" items. Now stand back and take a look. Do you a) have enough space to realize your vision or b) is there still only room for a pup tent and a bag of hammers? If b), then get rid of more stuff. Things are looking up.
Get Organized
Take stock of your remaining essentials and decide on your storage needs: shelves, cabinets, hooks or racks? And what about a cleanable garage floor that you can stand on without breaking your knees or a floor mat for under the car? Measure your floor space and sketch a diagram of your garage space.
Go Shopping
See, this isn't all bad. With your garage diagram in hand, go out and get what you need. If you want a new look but hate installing things you can keep things really simple by just purchasing garage flooring and stand-alone rack shelving.
Finish What You Started
At this point you're almost there. You have everything you need to complete your plan and realize your vision of a garage that looks great and maximizes its potential. Good luck and enjoy your new garage!
Every gear-head dreams of a garage that is neat, tidy and organized: a place to hang out with the boys on a Saturday morning or a sanctuary to retreat to after a hard day’s work. One of the easiest ways to quickly improve the looks and functionality of a garage is to start with the flooring.
There are several types of garage flooring available, from plastic, foam and carpet tiles to various paint treatments (epoxy and enamel). All have their advantages and disadvantages....
...One product I found that addresses all these issues is G-Floor® by BLT (Better Life Technologies) of Lenexa, Kansas. G-Floor is a roll out PVC based vinyl floor covering. It is available in four patterns (Diamond Tread, Smooth Levant, Rib/Channel and Coin Pattern) and eight colors (black, sandstone, royal blue, forest green, slate grey, brick red, silver metallic and clear). It is also available in two grades: commercial grade is .075 inch thick and industrial grade is .085 inch. Rolls are available in lengths ranging from 17 to 60 feet and widths from 7.5 to 10 feet.
The concrete floor in my garage was starting to show its age. Many years of winter snow and salt were causing the concrete to deteriorate. I also do a lot of work on my car in the garage so, for these reasons,
I chose the thicker industrial grade. The measurements came to 13 x 24 feet,
so I ordered two rolls of 10 x 24 feet. I decided to do a dual colour installation: slate grey down the middle and two strips of brick red along the sides (the lower portions of the garage walls are painted red and I thought that would look sharp).

Give Dad A New Garage Floor For Fathers Day
Gotten your dad anything for Father's Day? Need to give your kids an idea so you don't get another ugly tie? (Who wears ties anyway?) Or maybe the 2009 Dodge Challenger you just got for Father's Day makes your current garage look ugly. There's still time for a cure-all solution. Take a look at the new G-Floor. It's cost-effective, easy-to-install garage flooring.
My search for a garage floor solution began last year when we moved into a 50-year old house. The surface of the four-inch concrete slabs that made up the garage floor was crumbling in spots. The salt that is used in S.E. Michigan to melt the winter's ice and snow had taken its toll.
Cost quickly ruled out a new concrete floor. I liked the idea of an epoxy floor, but the cost (about $5-8/square foot) prep and time involved in the installation were more than I was willing to invest. Epoxy paint was another option, but the areas of concrete acne were too severe for this option. Other solutions such as snap-together tiles exist, but Michigan winters are too wet and dirty for these solutions, as the slush seeps through the tile seams and gets trapped between the tiles and existing floor.
The solution I chose was G-Floor. It's durable, polyvinyl roll-out flooring that comes in roll widths from 7.5- to 10-feet. Roll lengths up to 24-feet for the commercial grade thickness (0.075-inch base thickness) and up to 60-feet for the industrial grade (0.85-inch base thickness). My cost, exclusive of my labor (just a few hours) was $2/square foot.
The process for putting down a G-Floor is easy: measure your garage floor space, figure out what size pieces you need, place your order on-line (www.G-Floor.com), wait for the delivery truck to show up, roll-out the floor, let it settle overnight, use two-sided tape to hold down the edges, trim any excess, and you're done.
The most time-consuming portion of our install was pulling all the junk out of the garage.
The floor takes some time to settle, and the summer's warmer temperatures helped speed the process. The waves that were in the floor smoothed out in a couple days.
The coin-pattern surface I chose sweeps up easily, and according to G-Flooring materials, staining shouldn't be too big of an issue going forward. Thankfully, I don't own a Citroens SM (notorious leakers of hydraulic fluids) or Cosworth Vega.
So, now you know what to get your father, or yourself, for Father's Day.
Now that I've got the flooring, maybe I can get that Challenger. I'll take a SRT-8 with a manual, please.

A must-have for a garage floor. The coin pattern is great for rolling equipment about. G-Floor also has a Ribbed-Channel model that is great for snow-belt states so snow & sludge are directed as runoff out of your garage. Exceptional product. High quality and comes in various colors. Unroll, lay out on floor, and presto—you have a new garage floor! High quality product—well worth the investment. Wish I had more garages. Thanks for letting me test such a fine product. The hardest part was getting it out of my truck after that it was a breeze. Very easy to roll out. Still a little cold for the ends to lay flat but I expect it to lay flat when it warms up. Looks really nice and easy to clean up. I have a 1962 Falcon Sedan Delivery that has a motor that leaks a bit and this mat is really easy to clean. The pattern is very nice. The gray matches the epoxy finish very nice.

The Ultimate Garage Floor
PVC flooring has several unique benefits when compared to other flooring options. Its flexible nature provides greater anti-fatigue properties than snap-together polypropylene tile. Because PVC flooring comes in rolls, the only seam you’ll have on your garage floor is where two rolls meet (as compared to the hundreds of seams you’d have from snap-together systems). And when compared against epoxy coatings, you’ll never have to worry about the product failing and lifting from the concrete surface (as epoxies often do). There’s no mixing of chemicals and you don’t have to wait to drive on it – as soon as you’ve unrolled the material, it’s ready to be driven or walked on.

It's not just a floor, it's my Honda's home
It is, without a doubt, every man's greatest wish that his son surpass his worldly glories. As I am but a lowly scribe, one presumes that wouldn't take much doing. In life's hierarchy, my job description places me meaningfully atop an M. B. A. grad or a shoe salesman but somewhat below particularly meticulous janitors and the Lettieri waitress who just brought me my second libation with such dispatch. In terms of surpassing his dear old pater, then, basically, all Matthew has to do is make sure he doesn't end up working for the government.
But the little basement troll has decided, whoo-hah, to dramatically exceed my expectations. He's just announced his lifelong ambition. Much to my surprise, it seems I am to have a shyster in the family. That means no more jokes about the benefits of lawyers at the bottom of the ocean, ignoring the fine print and I'll probably get sued the next time I cut off his cable for not cleaning the dishes.
But the benefits are manifold. I had only planned to be cantankerous in my old age; now I can be litigious as well. Soon, I'll be able to cut people out of my will with abandon and, in three or four years, God willing, I can take Julian Fantino all the way to the Supreme Court of something or other to contest Ontario's ludicrous "racing" law.
The downsides are singular — law school tuition is ruinous. As he had been about to graduate, I had already begun spending the money I would save once he had his B. A. —an even bigger-screen TV, a new set of racing leathers; maybe even some much-needed dental work.
But topping my wish list was a new garage floor. I have been dreaming/lusting/fantasizing about a renovated shop floor since I bought the Booth manse almost five years ago. I know it doesn't sound important compared with, say, getting a root canal to alleviate my persistent toothaches, but I'm a passionate motor head and I spend a lot of time out there grinding, polishing and otherwise just fondling motor-cycle parts.
It's all become worse since my prized Honda CB1100RC has taken up residence. What was once just a terribly pockmarked, incredibly oil-stained concrete floor quickly became a blight on its beauty. Since I do, in fact, peek in on the old beastie almost every morning before work (one has to check on loved ones, doncha know), that diseased floor was a constant reminder that I had failed to make it the home it deserved.
My dream was to have the entire floor epoxied. I even bought one of those Home Depot do-it-yourself kits, but before I installed it, a neighbour with a similar fixation explained how it failed in his garage because our concrete was too porous. I had three contractors in, but they all said the same thing — the underlying floor had deteriorated so much that it would have to be ground down, relaid and then epoxied. The cost? About three grand.
Imagining myself Amish, I even tried organizing a group of the neighbours into a communal "concrete pouring" to spread the costs around. But Matthew's lawyerly ambitions nixed even that cost savings deal. Finally, it was either continue looking at that same tired old floor or settling for one of those universal rubber mats advertised as "universal garage flooring." No, it wasn't the high-end, "professional grade" ambiance my old Honda so richly deserves, but surely she would forgive me in time.
So, in exchange for a particularly measly amount of money, a company called G-Floor® sent me a 24-foot-by-10 sheet of stylized .075-inch commercial grade rubber. And, since as everyone knows, home and even garage renovation is a male-bonding experience, I invited my friend Steve over to help (and, no, it has nothing to do with my inability to saw, cut or otherwise partition anything along a straight line).
With Steve's meticulousness and the project managed by my expertise, the installation took about an hour. A few judicious cuts around the garage door, a nip and tuck at the errant drainpipe in the back and the garage suddenly looked if not quite the castle I imagined for my pride and joy, at least no longer the prehistoric cave it once was.
My floor obsession is cured; I no longer dream of slate grey epoxy with sparklies in it. Even the budding lawyer got in on the act, spontaneously (and, I swear, without any coercion) sweeping the garage for the first time since we moved in. Wonder if he'll do my will for free?

I wish to express my complete satisfaction with your company's product and the promptness in shipping. The shipper's driver was kind enough to assistance me in the placing and partly unpacking your product—a chore that wasn't part of his duties.

Recently, BLT was privledged to participate in Destination Organization.
This is an annual project of the Arizona chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO).
Each year, this chapter completes a total home-organization makeover project
for a fortunate family in the Phoenix area. This year, BLT provided two rolls of
Sandstone-color, Ribbed-pattern garage flooring for the project
I love the way it has transformed my garage
I have purchased 4 10'x22' "rollls" of BLT ribbed flooring in forest green through Sam's Club online. I love the way it has transformed my garage which IS another room of my house—my laundry equipment, a second refrigerator, a freezer, and supplemental storage for everything. I loved the garage enough that I ordered 2 more rolls for my front entry and back porch. The "front" roll is stored until warmer weather but the back porch is laid, and has made my winter "sun room" a much more pleasant and functional place for my tropical plants and the people in this house…
…I do love it, and the improvement it has made in my home. Now that the amount of dirt that we track in from the garage has allowed me to replace the flooring inside the house — an improvement that we have been waiting for years to make.
—Thank you for your help, and Merry Christmas. —S. Harrell

Hot New Trend:
Interior Décor for the Garage
The garage is very often the last place to be recognized as a space you can decorate. Indoors and out our houses are decorated with state-of-the-art updates — even patios have outdoor kitchens and stylish stone underfoot. The garage is one of the highest traffic areas of your home, so adding the same style there increases square footage and value to your property.
No longer just a place to store your junk, the garage has become a place to spend time and many are even heated. Freezer and pantry shelves make it an extension of the kitchen; furniture, sound system and TV make it a great place for watching football or a kids’ play area when they can’t play outside.
Many companies are providing everything homeowners need to upgrade the garage to the condition of the rest of the house. “Start with the flooring and work your way up from there,” says Don Sneed, president of Better Life Technology. “Good floor covering improves the look, shields the floor and increases the value of the house. Roll out flooring is easy to install, durable, attractive and even comfortable to walk on.”
… For its overall practicality of installation, affordability, and
slew of advantages G-Floor® gets the FlooringNews.com®
stamp of approval. G-Floor is a premier flooring solution
for the garage and is definitely highly recommended.

Roll-Out Vinyl Garage Flooring vs. Polypropylene Tile Consider Your Needs Carefully
Choosing a garage flooring product can be difficult and very time consuming. While the process of choosing a garage floor can be cumbersome, it is important that you take your time and make sure that you choose the product that is right for your job. G-Floor® from Better Life Technology has some definite advantage over other products such as snap together garage floor tiles. G-Floor garage floor mats offer a virtually seamless floor that provides a high degree of protection to the concrete below. While garage floor tiles provide an attractive appearance, most tiles have a seam every 12" to 18" where water, dirt and chemicals can seep through and stain the floor below. For example a 2 car garage measuring 20' x 24' would have one seam with the G-Floor product as opposed to 480 individual tiles with a seam on each side of each and every tile.
Installing G-Floor® is often much faster than installing a snap together tile system. While most tile systems require you to interlock them on each and every side, G-Floor garage floor mats can be laid next to each other and can often be installed in under an hour.
One final advantage of G-Floor® garage flooring is that it is constructed from flexible PVC. The PVC provides greater anti-fatigue properties than a solid tile while still being strong enough to stand up to industrial garage conditions. G-Floor is less expensive than most tiles and PVC requires a thinner layer to accomplish the same function and PVC expands and contracts less than polypropylene.
There is a lot of garage flooring on the market and everybody has different needs. If you are looking for a simple, affordable, attractive product that provides a high degree of protection to your new or old concrete slab, then G-Floor is one option that I would definitely consider.

Glenn Haege: You can do it!
The Detroit News — May 26, 2007
Homestyle Section — page 12H
Garage-floor protector is very easy to install
Most garage floors become dirty, ugly things we would don't associate with our (usually) clean houses. This is to be expected. We drive our cars through slush, snow and mud, rain, and then park in the garage. Cars can also leak oil, gas and transmission fluid, and we spill just about anything you can think of on the poor, unprotected floor.
I get hundreds of calls asking how to clean, seal, and paint the floor. That's fine. You can do all of these things. All it takes is hard work and/or a relatively fat checkbook.
Whatever you do has drawbacks. Clean the floor and it just gets dirty again. Seal the floor and it usually becomes shiny or turns yellow. Stain the floor and it can still peel and flake.
As I get younger, easier, less labor-intensive options become more and more attractive. If you are tired of all the hard work, here is a labor-saving alternative that can give you an easy-to-clean, attractive, easy-to-install two-car garage floor for under $700.
The secret is Better Life Technologies' (913-894-0403, www.bltllc.com ) G-Floor Roll-Out Garage Flooring. It comes in several different colors, patterns, and thicknesses and is shipped in rolls that fit the most common garage dimensions. The best price I found was at Sam's Club (www.samsclub.com , $138.72 per 7 1/2 -foot by 20-foot roll). Other Web sites such as www.griotsgarage.com and www.amaricangarage.com have broader selections.
Here's all you have to do Materials needed: Better Life Technologies (BLT) Floor Covering, indoor/outdoor carpet tape optional). Tools needed: Utility knife or large, sharp scissors. Instructions: 1. Clean the garage and driveway. Be sure to clean up any chemical spills. 2. The easiest way to get the garage floor protector to uncurl is to unroll it on the driveway in the sunlight. The warmer the day the better. If you can't do that, unroll it in place, directly on the garage floor. 3. When it has completely flattened, drag the floor protector into the garage and put it in place. Push out all the air pockets with a push broom. Allow the mat to relax in place for a couple of hours before cutting to size. 4. When perfectly flat, tug into the exact place and trim around corners with scissors or utility knife. 5. 10-foot wide G-Flooring has a 1 1/2 - to 2-inch wide unpatterned flap so that you can overlap the mat. Taping is unnecessary because the G-Floor mat will lay flat, but some people like to make the mat one unit. 6. You're done! It looks great. Brag about it.
The real beauty of this flooring is when it gets dirty you drag it out to the driveway and hose it down.
A definite "wow-factor" coming from the neighbors.
"I bought the mainstream epoxy coating at one of the big superstores a few years ago and within 2 years, the epoxy coating was noticeably pealing. After a while, it really looked dirty and unfinished - even after cleaning. I've had the G-Floor coin-pattern down for a few weeks, it looks fantastic, and there's no 7-day "cure time" like the epoxy coating required. Entirely own my own, I finished the G-Floor job in about 5 hours. Yes, it took some time (lots of nooks and crannies), but I'm very pleased with how attractive it looks, how well it cleans up, and how durable it feels! A definite "wow-factor" coming from the neighbors." —D. Davis —Portland, OR —April 17, 2007
Dear Glenn: Have you had any experiences with either the mat style or locking tile style floorings that can be used on garage floors? I decided against epoxy because of the cost, and there are several manufacturers of the mat and tiles.
Could you recommend one over the other and a local distributor versus buying the materials over the Internet? —Dan, Ortonville
Dear Dan: Check out Better Life Technologies before you buy anything, www.bltllc.com. The BLT G-Floor Mat is a vinyl mat that you can get to fit your garage floor. It's impervious to oil, salt, whatever. When it gets dirty, just drag it out of the garage and wash it off with a garden hose. It's that easy. The best price I've found for this was at samsclub.com. I have also seen it in their stores.
If the floor of your garage is stained and pitted, now is the perfect time to fix it. What you do depends upon the condition of the floor. There are four different levels: All busted up, cracked and heaving, pockmarked and, lastly, needs cleaning or cover-up. Each has a different solution. … Easy solution to a great-looking garage floor
If all this sounds like too much work you can just lay down a heavy-duty vinyl called G-Floor Roll-Out Garage Flooring. If you take the easy option, all you have to do is wipe up puddles, sweep out the garage, and lay down the flooring. Maintenance is also very easy. The vinyl Garage Flooring is made by Better Life Technology, www.bltllc.com. It is available on many car-care Web sites and catalogs. A little extra effort now will give you a garage floor you can brag about all summer long.
Dear Glenn: I want to coat my concrete garage floor with something that will last thru hot tires, salt, oil/grease, foot traffic, etc. Do you recommend any particular products? —Michael, Shelby Township
Dear Michael: Consider Better Life Technology’s Plastic Flooring for Garages, (877) 810-6444, www.bltllc. com, as an alternative. This plastic flooring unrolls on the floor of the garage. When it gets dirty, you just pull it out to the driveway and wash it off with a hose. When dry, pull it back again. The best place to buy it is the Sam’s Club Web site, www.samsclub.com. Flooring for a 10-by-22-foot garage sells for $170.
If you prefer to go the epoxy route, Home Depot sells Rustoleum Epoxyshield, www.rustoleum.com. Another epoxy product, U-Coat It, (800) 826-2848, www.ucoatit.com, has a greater variety of colors. U-Coat It sells nationwide and also installs in Michigan.
"I have 1,815sf to cover in my garage/shop. I wanted RACEDECK, but the cost was prohibitive. I considered epoxy, but leaving everything outside while it cured wasn't a possibility.
"I selected the vinyl roll out pads. I bought three bright blue 10x30' coin pattern rolls in the commercial thickness. Each roll weighs over 300#, but the truck driver helped me get them to my garage doors, then it simply roll them out. In less than three hours they were down. I kept the plastic rolls in case I want to take them with me in the future. I like it..."
"This stuff here is the bomb!—http://www.bltllc.com/
"We use it here at work in one of our RF Screen Rooms. The screen room is 40 ft x 10 ft and it covers the floor to allow the robotic vehicles to move without scratching up the floor. It is very durable. I have been wanting to use this in my garage and will do it this summer."

"Although wall-to-wall carpet has yet to make its way into most garages, a raw concrete floor is quickly becoming a thing of the past. A finished floor improves the garage's appearance and preserves the integrity of the concrete. ... Vinyl mats have made their way onto the scene and are receiving acclaim for their ability to provide all of the benefits of a painted floor with none of the drawbacks ... A vinyl floor mat is hard to beat when it comes to price and ease of installation. The mat does not require adhesive and is rolled out into the space. ... Some mats are designed with an integral grooved surface that will easily shed water."

"I used roofing tar paper to make the pattern - Home Depot - laid the paper along wall edges and made any necessary cut outs for plumbing ,door jam etc. Next step is to lay paper over remaining exposed floor and duct tape all pieces together so you will now have one sturdy piece that can be rolled up and taken to a flat concrete surface to trace onto vinyl piece.Tape pattern to vinyl piece in several places to ensure no movement while cutting with utility knife. Place tar paper pattern back on floor and lay vinyl on top to act as moisture barrier and tempature control.

"I had to write to say thanks for such a great product. I purchased two 10x22 BLT floor mats last November and I'm extremely happy with them. The mats do everything right. They protect my floor through our harsh upstate New York winters, the grooves keep the mats from becoming slippery and they clean up with ease. People who come to visit always comment about the mats! When I began looking for a floor protector I wanted an alternative to paint which cannot hold up to the harsh road salt. The mats were a perfect solution. It took some searching on the internet to find them but I'm glad I took the time. One important point I have to make, the mats are made in the United States. Had the mats been labeled "made in China" I would have never considered them, not for any price. I have passed your company info to the "made in USA" website which supports US companies that manufacture domestically. Keep up the great work. The mats are well worth the price. I do my best to spread the good word about them.

Steve Scalise" Followup email received from the same (still very happy) customer

It's put some pressure on me to keep them clean in case a neighbor wants a peek but as you know because of BLT floor mats, cleaning your garage floor is as easy as washing your car. Anyway, keep the mats coming & I'll keep the garage door open!

"Wow! Are we excited. We have had our garage modernized - well, cleaned and it now just glistens. We bought some cabinets through Lowes and some BLT floor covering through Sparkle Auto in Kansas. We are so thrilled with the results. I don't get this excited about something that often, but it really looks great. Why did we wait so long?
The flooring is a PVC ribbed mat that was rolled up for delivery - and I figure that it took about two hours to move the cabinets, cut, install, stick down with two sided tape along the seams. It works out as less expensive and incredibly faster than cleaning, moving everything out for a week, painting, etc.... Hope you enjoy the Pix -
"The pictures were taken after a windy rainstorm; the white spots are the cherry blossoms from the trees along the driveway.
We learned a lot on this project and are very pleased. The flooring is ribbed from the back wall to front and made of flexible PVC. Wonderful!"

New or old, transform your garage into a showplace
(ARA) - The one-car garage has become almost extinct - no one would think of building a new home with anything smaller than a two-car garage, and in many neighborhoods, a three-car garage is the norm.
"The garage has become an extension of peoples' homes," says Don Sneed, president of Better Life Technology, a company that specializes in easy-to-install garage flooring. In addition to being bigger than they were a few years ago, garages are also becoming showplaces, with painted walls, custom storage and even fancy floors.
If you'd like to keep your new garage looking new, or give your older garage a facelift, start at the bottom, so to speak, with the G-Floor roll out garage flooring from BLT a Kansas-based company. The coin-patterned flooring is easy to install, durable and attractive.
Created by Don's son Brett, the G-Floor, made of specially formulated polyvinyl, hides cracks and stains while protecting floors from oil, battery acid, grease, brake fluid, antifreeze, salt, mud and other dirt that finds its way into the garage. The G-Floor puts a moisture and vapor barrier between the cold concrete and parked vehicles, making it a favorite of car buffs.
"Anyone who lives in a colder climate knows what a mess winter snow, slush and salt can make both in the garage and in the house," says Sneed. Because the G-Floor resists mildew and rot, it is perfect for damp areas, unlike carpeting. "Not only does our flooring beautify your garage, it also helps in keeping dirt outside, where it belongs.
The flooring comes in six attractive colors, and installation is a snap: Simply unroll and cut to size using a utility knife, overlapping or butting the flooring together for seamless protection and a custom fit; no adhesives are required. The flooring comes in a variety of different widths, up to 10 feet wide, and a typical garage will require two or three rolls of flooring, at a cost of $500 to $1,000. To clean, simply hose off the floor.
Among the company's happy customers is Steve Scalise of upstate New York. He says the product "protects my floor through our harsh winters, and it cleans up with ease. People who come to visit always comment on the floor."
Once you've finished sprucing up your garage, consider other uses for the G-Floor. The coin pattern looks great in other areas of the house, such as a workshop, laundry room, basement storage room, even a wine cellar. The floor is great for these areas, since it provides enough cushioning action to make it more comfortable to stand and walk on, offers impact resistance in case of dropped tools or wine bottles, and the surface pattern lets spills be easily wiped up.
The G-Floor is made totally in the United States, and carries a 5-year limited warranty. Better Life Technology products are now available through major catalogs such as Frontgate, Griots Garage, Northern Tool, Herrington, Sky Mall, Auto Sport, Sporty's, Solutions, Improvements, Preferred Living, and California Car Cover. Major web site marketers for their products are jnkproducts.com, samsclub.com, and www.pacificprodux.com. The product is also available at all Menard's home centers and can be special ordered through Lowes home centers nationwide. Installers include The Accessories Group and House Wall Garage System.

Better Life Technology makes extraordinary garage floor covering products. What's extraordinary is the material used for their products. It is a specially formulated polyvinyl that resists stains and contaminants commonly found in the garage.
It works. I placed a phosphoric-based acid wash, motor oil, antifreeze, and grease on a sample of the Parking Pad® material for 10 days. Each item washed off leaving no tell-tale signs.
The Parking Pad in my garage is 7.5' x 17'. Even though my garage floor is coated with epoxy, I roll out my pad in the winter to protect the floor from four, studded snow tires. The pad shows no signs of punctures! It is easy to clean because of the channel design that allows water to flow or be swept away easily. Admittedly, there is one stain; the type of stain is unknown. But save for that one exception the Parking Pad cleans like new.
The other standard Parking Pad sizes are 9' x 20' and 10' x 22'. Custom lengths are also available in widths up to 10'. The standard width is 4' in the flooring industry for this type of product. Garage size varies, so a cut-to-fit Parking Pad is good news.
It's easy to cover the entire garage floor surface with the slip-resistant Parking Pad material, and there's no need to apply an adhesive on the floor. Each 10'-wide mat includes an additional 4" flap that can overlap each other. These flaps can be cut off with a utility knife, and the edges butt together to create a seam. Applying an adhesive or double-sided tape along the flap line is optional. But there is no requirement to use an adhesive if the product is placed over the entire garage floor surface. If you decide to use an adhesive, Better Life Technology reports that their customers claim Liquid Nails or OATY X 15 are effective adhesives.
G-Floor® Garage Floor Protector
The heavy-duty big brother to the Parking Pad is the G-Floor. This product is about double the thickness and comes in either the channel design or the attractive 'coin' design.
The G-Floor is cost-competitive when comparing it to an epoxy coating. Installation is also much faster than painting.
The G-Floor possesses the same qualities as the Parking Pad. This durable material cushions any floor surface. And the coin-pattern design looks great when it's installed in other areas of the house such as a workshop, laundry room, basement storage room, rec room in the basement, bonus room above the garage, outside storage shed, and even a wine cellar. The possibilities are endless.
The Parking Pad® and G-Floor® are available in a variety of colors that include Slate Grey, Sandstone, Brick Red, Forest Green, Royal Blue, and Black. Contact the company for a distributor near you or for more information.
If you want to rebuild a beloved ride, house a prized collector car, or spend some quality time with a motorcycle, here is the book for you. An essential tool for building your dream garage, this book takes readers from inspiration to reality in engaging and easy-to-follow steps.
With plenty of clear illustrations and examples, the author explains all the issues a homeowner must confront when planning and building a new garage or adapting an old one to accommodate new vehicles and new ideas. Beginning with the design, Klancher walks the prospective owner through the entire process, from preliminary issues like zoning and building permits, to dimensions and materials, to finishing a space with workbenches, lighting, flooring, and wall coverings.
Filled with practical advice and instructions for the handy homeowner and weekend mechanic, the book also guides readers through the complexities (and wisdom) of contracting specific tasks. Detailed photographs showcase finished garages and highlight special features. Step-by-step sidebars cover the how-tos for garage owners with even the most elementary carpentry skills. Read this book before you begin and save yourself money and effort.
(ARA) - Every year, people spend thousands of dollars on home remodeling, and the rooms that get the most attention are the kitchen, bathrooms, family room and basement. The last place most people think of updating is the garage.
But the role of the room where you store your car (and your sports equipment, extra freezer, and assorted boxes of junk) is changing. Garages are now becoming an extension of the home, complete with flooring, cabinetry for all your storage needs, and even furniture. In fact, there are now entire companies devoted to nothing but helping your garage clean up its act.
If you're ready to upgrade your garage, start with the floor. Bare concrete floors are functional, but not very attractivethey crack and show stains. There are many concrete paint products on the market, but they can be messy and very time consuming to applyand your garage will still look bare.
"Having had many years of experience in the floor coating business, I advise people against do-it-yourself floor coating kits," says Mike Parker of American Garage Floor, a company that specializes in garage solutions. "Not only do they involve a lot of preparation, but after all of the work, it is very possible for the coating to start peeling and chipping within a matter of weeks."
For an attractive floor that offers performance and value, Parker recommends the G-Floor roll out garage flooring by Better Life Technology. "This flooring is easy to install, durable and attractive," he says.
Created by father and son Brett and Don Sneed, the G-Floor, made of specially formulated polyvinyl, hides cracks and stains while protecting floors from oil, battery acid, grease, brake fluid, antifreeze, salt, mud and other dirt that finds its way into the garage.
The original G-Floor features a rib/channel design which controls debris while liquids are contained by the channels. The company recently introduced an attractive new coin pattern as well. "Anyone who lives in a colder climate knows what a mess winter snow, slush and salt can make both in the garage and in the house," says company president Don Sneed. "Not only does our flooring beautify your garage, it also allows you to keep dirt outside, where it belongs." Also important in winter weather, the flooring puts a vapor barrier between the cold concrete and your vehiclesand it's slip resistant.
The flooring comes in six attractive colors, and installation is a snap: Simply unroll and cut to size using a utility knife, overlapping or butting the flooring together for seamless protection and a custom fit; no adhesives are required. The flooring comes in a variety of different widths, up to 10 feet wide, and a typical two-car garage will use three rolls of flooring, at a cost of $500 to $1,000. To clean, simply hose off the floor. Among the satisfied customers is Edward R. Noble, publisher of Wheels magazine. "I have a nice garage, but the G-Floor makes it a show place," he says.
Once you've finished sprucing up your garage, consider other uses for the G-Floor. The coin pattern version of the flooring also looks great in other areas of the house, such as a workshop, laundry room, basement storage room, even a wine cellar.

How to Make It Look Like New
Each week, Good Morning America's home-improvement guru, Ron Hazelton, answers questions about maintaining and upgrading your home.
Nov. 8, 2004
"Q: Dear Ron,
HELP! Some of the old paint on the garage floor has been scraped and looks awful. Do I have options other than repainting, and how do I go about this?"
Terry N.
Oldsmar, Fla.
"A: Terry,
One of the best options available to you requires no scraping or repainting, can be done in a couple of hours and will give you a pristine floor that will clean easily and last for years. Sound too good to be true?
I, too, was skeptical when a father and son manufacturing team out of Kansas asked me to take a look at their new product a vinyl, wall-to-wall, garage floor protector. But my doubts quickly faded as I watched them roll out a 10-foot-wide vinyl mat over a badly stained concrete floor. In minutes, the floor had been transformed.
In addition to its ability to conceal stains and marks, the vinyl can also act as a vapor barrier. The only adhesive required to put is down is a bead of construction adhesive along the edge at the garage door opening(s). The material can be easily trimmed around posts and other obstructions using a utility knife.
I strongly suggest you remove everything from your garage before laying the floor protector. This will reduce the cutting and trimming and allow you to rearrange things later without ending up with a bare patch of concrete where that storage cabinet once stood.
The product is manufactured by Better Life Technology; you can get more details and see photos at www.bltllc.com."
(ARA) - In many homes, the garage is the "final frontier." While the kitchen may be state-of-the-art, the bathrooms remodeled and even the basement clean and organized, chances are the garage is an eyesore.
But the role of the garage is changing from a place to store your car (and your sports equipment, extra freezer, and assorted boxes of junk) to an extension of the home, complete with flooring, cabinetry for all your storage needs, and even furniture. Entire companies are devoted to nothing besides helping your garage clean up its act.

"Sure, the weather's wonderful right now, and the leaves haven't even made their colorful metamorphosis. But count on this: Winter's coming, and along with it all the slush and road salt that drips from your vehicle onto your garage floor, waiting to be tracked into the house.
That's what happened to Brett Sneed, whose shoes left a trail of winter grime on his wife Shelly's new white carpeting. So Brett went to work with his father, Don, who already had created the Spillmaster adjustable vehicle cup holder, and developed Parking Pad, a polyvinyl garage-floor covering. When they couldn't find anyone with equipment to produce their pads, the Sneeds recruited 80 friends and investors and launched Better Life Technology LLC, a manufacturing facility in Lenexa, Kan., near Kansas City. Parking Pads come in various sizes, from as small as 7.5 feet by 14 feet to as large as 10 feet by 22 feet.
Company President Don Sneed says a typical two-car garage floor can be covered for $400 to $600. Installation, which involves sweeping the floor and rolling out the grooved material, takes about an hour. Once installed, the Parking Pad garage-floor protector can be hosed off or swept of debris that has dripped from a parked vehicle. Parking Pad material is available in six colors, two patterns and either industrial or consumer thickness. "New patterns will be added soon", Don Sneed said.
In addition to garage-size pads, the company makes smaller pads to place under motorcycles, inside trailer floors or even on the cargo floor of a sport utility vehicle or the floor of a dog kennel. Parking Pads and other Better Life Technology products, which include overhead storage bins for garages or basements, are available through various catalogs or Web outlets, including Griot's Garage and NorthernTool.com, or at retail locations such as Sam's Club, Menards and soon at Home Depot. For more information, as well as links to places to purchase Parking Pads, visit the Better Life Technology Web site at www.bltllc.com. Parking Pad garage floor covering comes in various colors, including black, with a special "Raceday" border."
